Two years ago in 2022, during my first trip to the United States, I felt the need for a wakebait. Up until then, I hadn’t used wakebaits much.
・ Differences between Japanese and American lakes.
This may be the primary reason. The significant difference lies in the size of the lakes, leading to variations in the extent of shallow and deep areas. While Japan has shallow areas in lakes and rivers, they aren’t as extensive and long lasting as those in the United States. In Japan, I often used slower action baits like crawlerbait to meticulously entice fish in narrow shallow points. I think that slow and deliberate action increases effectiveness and success.
・ My perspective changed after experiencing fishing in America.
Compared to the precise and narrow fishing style in Japan, I felt the need for a broader and faster approach in America. For pinpoint spots, I still use a meticulous approach, but generally, a broad and speedy fishing technique is essential. Without it, the chances of a hit and even locating fish seem diminished. My experiences in America changed my approach to fishing in Japan, leading me to contemplate how to use wakebaits to entice fish widely and quickly, resulting in the conception of BUGROCK WAKE.
・ The keyword is a strong water grip.
BUGROCK WAKE was created to entice fish broadly and quickly, with a key emphasis on strongly gripping the water. This involves creating a bait that moves a significant amount of water around it. Instead of skimming the water surface at high speeds, the focus is on creating a strong water-grabbing action even at normal speeds. This approach allows for enticing fish from a wide range of areas.
While the types of lakes and rivers may differ, BUGROCK WAKE was born from my experiences in both Japanese and American fishing.
