Wood’s Individuality.

Some days still feel warm in the afternoon, but mornings and nights here in Japan have gotten pretty cold. When I’m on the lake, I can still feel a bit of fall left… but winter is definitely closing in.
Most of the lakes I fish are tucked deep in the mountains, so they get much colder than the lowlands, and the water temperature drops below 10°C (around 50°F). When that happens, fish hardly react. With a swimbait, I’m lucky if I get even one chance all day.
But that’s exactly why I want to catch that one thrilling fish on a swimbait.

I’m carving BUGROCK WAKE every day, getting ready for the first drop next year.
No matter how carefully I build each one, they never come out exactly the same. Every piece of wood has a different density, so I adjust the weighting one by one. I love how the combination of handcrafting and the natural character of wood gives each bait its own personality.

Alright, time to get back to carving another BUGROCK WAKE, bringing out the unique character in each piece of wood!!
