The story of MBD baits begins with a square block of wood. Although they begin with the same pattern, once one Takemura’s hand is involved, each bait begins its own unique story.
The finished image of the bait is always in the mind of the Takemura. However, depending on what kind of wood is used, the grain of the wood will be different and the ease of cutting will vary. It is not possible to understand what kind of character a tree has just by looking at it. However, while cutting, I touch and feel the wood with my own hands and understand it as if I am talking to it, carefully weaving each piece of wood’s unique story as I create the baits.
MBD bait’s attention to detail is in the details. There is no process that is left out, such as the carving of the face, the joints, and the weight balance. If I loose even a single detail, all the time and effort I have put into the process will be wasted.
Making each piece by hand takes a lot of time. In an age when anyone can make baits using 3D technology, MBD wants to keep the “story of handmade baits” alive.
