#22 Why Was the EDEN7 Necessary?

In swim bait fishing, lure size has a significant impact. Large lures attract big fish, while smaller lures have the potential to appeal to a wider range of fish. With this in mind, I began developing the EDEN7, carrying over the strengths of the EDEN8 while further expanding bite opportunities, utilizing speed-driven action, and achieving quick, sharp movement.

An America Different from What I Imagined.

The decisive factor in creating the EDEN7 was experiencing an American fishing environment that differed from my expectations. When I first visited the U.S. and fished in a small lake, I was surprised by the abundance of small baitfish. As a child, I grew up watching American bass fishing in TV shows and videos, where large baitfish were aggressively preyed upon. Because of this, before traveling to the U.S., I had a strong impression that American lakes were full of baitfish over 8 inches long. However, in reality, small baitfish dominated in many situations, and I realized that big fish did not always prey on large bait. By experiencing this natural setting firsthand, I was inspired to develop the EDEN7-a smaller lure with a unique action.

The Speed Advantage of a Smaller Size.

Downsizing a lure doesn’t just make it easier to trigger bites; it also alters its movement in the water. The EDEN7 takes full advantage of its compact size, allowing for high-speed retrieves. While the EDEN8 is known for its stability in slow retrieves, the EDEN7 is designed to handle even faster retrieves, making it more effective for reaction bites. This versatility expands the range of fishing situations where it excels.

Additionally, speed isn’t just about reaction bites. It also enables quick targeting of high-activity bass. This is particularly beneficial for approaching roaming bass or fishing during feeding periods when bass are more likely to react to fast-moving prey. The speed capabilities of the EDEN7 make it a powerful tool in these scenarios.

Achieving Quick, Sharp Action.

When developing the EDEN7, I focused not only on downsizing the EDEN8 but also on refining its action. My goal was to create a lure with sharp, quick swim movements.

While the EDEN8 grips the water and swims smoothly, the EDEN7 features a more elliptical body shape, enabling instant, dynamic movements. This quick action is particularly effective when incorporating twitches, stimulating a bass’s natural instincts and provoking aggressive strikes.

Furthermore, the EDEN7’s enhanced responsiveness to retrieve speed variations allows anglers to translate their intentions directly into the lure’s movement. This level of control enables more precise action, making the EDEN7 not just a smaller version of the EDEN8, but a lure with its own distinct identity and performance.

The New Possibilities Created by the EDEN7.

There was a clear reason for the birth of the EDEN7: to increase bite chances, leverage speed, and enable quick action. The fusion of these three elements creates new fishing opportunities. And these reasons are a story that began with my actual experience and feelings of fishing in the United States. I hope that using the EDEN7 will allow anglers to experience new styles of fishing and excitement like never before.
