EDEN7 and EDEN8 – More Than Just a Size Reduction, A Lure with a Different Concept
The exact size of the EDEN7 is 6.6 inches. The idea to create this lure originated about three years ago with a simple concept: “Let’s make a downsized version of the EDEN8.”
At first, I thought it would be ideal if I could simply reduce the size of the EDEN8 while maintaining the same action. However, when we created the first prototype, my perspective changed. I realized that simply making it smaller was not enough—I needed to pursue an action unique to the EDEN7.

The Challenges of Downsizing
Testing did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. The smaller the lure, the more delicate the balance had to be. Designing a smaller lure was far more difficult than expected, requiring careful adjustments to weight placement and weight balance. It wasn’t as simple as just making it smaller. Some prototypes were so unbalanced that they never even made it to the painting stage.
There were times when I wanted to step away from the development of the EDEN7 altogether. Since I work on multiple lures at the same time, I found myself escaping to other projects whenever I felt stuck. However, the EDEN7 was always lingering in the back of my mind—I couldn’t completely let it go.
The Bass That Accelerated EDEN7’s Development
Regardless of my struggles, I always had a few prototypes of the EDEN7 in my tackle box. One day, while fishing, I cast the EDEN8 at a particular spot but later decided to follow up with the EDEN7. Without giving it much thought, I swapped the lures and worked the EDEN7 just as I had the EDEN8. To my surprise, I got a bite and successfully landed a bass.
That moment sparked a mix of excitement and curiosity. Why did the fish bite? Was it just the smaller size that made the difference? I continued to analyze and refine my designs. Interestingly, at that time, I had been using a prototype that excelled at slow action.
That single catch reignited my passion for the EDEN7, and the gears of development began turning once more.

EDEN7’s Unique Action
Through repeated trials and refinements, I eventually narrowed the prototypes down to two main types:
- A type that prioritized speed.
- A type that focused on stability and slow action, similar to the EDEN8.
I struggled with the decision until the very end. The downsized EDEN7 certainly caught fish when used in the same way as the EDEN8. However, I had an important realization.
Our initial concept was to create an action that was unique to the EDEN7.
- Stability in slow action is something that the EDEN8 already does well.
- However, a fast-action lure was something the EDEN8’s size could not fully achieve.
Thus, I decided to maximize the speed potential that only the EDEN7 could offer. The EDEN8 has its own unique action, and the EDEN7 should have its own as well.
To be honest, it was difficult to abandon the slow-action prototype. Some might wonder if combining the best of both would be possible. Technically, yes, but that would mean compromising the extreme strengths of either style.
There is a Japanese proverb: “He who chases two rabbits catches neither.” Trying to achieve both speed and slow-action equally would likely result in a lure that wasn’t exceptional at either. After much thought, I chose to specialize the EDEN7 as a fast-speed lure.
The Lure is not a “Product” but “My work of Art”
Even after the design and weight balance were decided and I decided to release it, I did not immediately release it to the world. This is because no matter how perfect the action is, if I myself am not satisfied with it, I cannot release it to the world.
MBD lures are not mere “products”. To me, they are like “my children”.
That is why I don’t want to send out a lure to the world that I am not confident in. I want the people who pick it up to really enjoy it from the bottom of my heart. I want them to feel the joy of catching fish through the lure. If the moment you catch a fish, the smile on your face is created by MBD’s lure, there is no greater happiness than that.
The development of EDEN7 was accompanied by many difficulties. However, I am convinced that this process is what made this lure unique.
There are fish that can be caught only with EDEN7.
I would like you to experience this response in your own fishing. I am truly happy to have created this lure.

Difference in action created by the difference in body shape.
EDEN7 and EDEN8 are not just different sizes; there is also a clear difference in body shape.
Lure Body Shape Action Characteristics.
Lure | Body Shape | Action Characteristics |
EDEN8 | Original, grips water firmly | Wide, grips water current, stable swim action |
EDEN7 | Slim, cuts through the water | Small, water-cutting shape Agile, speedy action |
EDEN8’s body grips water firmly and can produce a certain amount of speed, but it does not excel in agile movements like EDEN7.
On the other hand, EDEN7 has a thinner body to achieve a sharper and faster action.
The size of 6.6 inches was also derived to optimize the balance between speed and action. I did not just make the lure smaller, but arrived at this size as a result of the lure’s concept.
EDEN7 and EDEN8, and where we put each one out.
Watch this video.
When bass are aware of speedy baits, as in this video, the EDEN8 makes it difficult to attract bites. This is because the EDEN8’s body shape easily grips the water, so when speed is increased, resistance increases and it becomes difficult to produce agile movements.
However, with EDEN7, the speedy action can attract more aggressive bites.
In other words, EDEN8 has the strength of EDEN8 and EDEN7 has the strength of EDEN7. By using them differently depending on the situation, you can attract fish more effectively.
The EDEN series is not just different sizes, but each has its own specialized role. Choose the one that best suits your fishing style.
