Hoe I use BUGWAKE.

I’d like to introduce how I use BUGWAKE as the builder.

Over 90% of the time, I fish it as a surface wake bait with a steady retrieve. BUGWAKE is made from wood, and that natural buoyancy I use BUGWAKE on water surface.

One of the most important things when using BUGWAKE is running braided line with a leader. The reason I prefer braid is to get 100% of the bait’s action, especially on long casts. With fluorocarbon, the line can stretch and sink, which can cause BUGWAKE to dig down instead of staying on top. To get the most out of it as a BUGWAKE, I recommend using braided line.

There are other ways to fish it as well, like twitching, popping, and crankdown. BUGWAKE can dive to about 2 feet, so you can also catch fish that won’t react on the surface by cranking over shallow flats. The only time I recommend fluorocarbon is when you feel a crankdown style fits the situation.

For twitching and popping, braided line is the best choice. Since braid doesn’t stretch, it transfers your input directly to the bait, making it much easier to create the exact action you’re aiming for.

One more important thing: use a snap. If you tie directly to the bait, the line knot restricts movement at the line tie, which limits the action. Using a snap gives BUGWAKE more freedom and lets it perform the way it’s designed to. Snap is important.

These are my main ways of fishing BUGWAKE. Of course, you can use it however you like—there may be even better ways to get bites. If you find an effective way to fish BUGWAKE, let me know—just between us.lol

That’s how I use BUGWAKE. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. I hope you enjoy fishing with BUGWAKE and that it leads you to a memorable fish.
